The End of All Things

This isn’t easy to write, but the time has come to say goodbye to this blog.

When I started Watch This Space four years ago, I was a 22 year old Master’s student living in Oxford and studying book publishing. A lot has changed since the day I started blogging, but I’m happy to say I still love publishing and books.

The fact of the matter is that it’s very hard to keep blogging about books in an objective way when I also work in publishing. I may have started this blog for a class project, but I’ve continued it because I wanted to share my honest opinions about books, including the ones I didn’t like.

In February I started a new job, and since then I’ve felt more and more like this blog is a conflict of interests. I’ve also often felt stumped for content. I don’t read as many books as a lot of bloggers and coming up with enough original content for more than one blog post a week is a struggle.

I’ve thought a lot this year about whether or not I should change things, or refocus it onto a different aspect of books and publishing, but ultimately I’ve decided against it. I really think it’s for the best. You may see me around on another blog in the near future. In the meantime, you can find me on Instagram or Twitter at @tehkelsey.

Thanks for sticking around the past four years. Thanks for all the comments and support and the book recommendations. Thank you for everything. See you later!

  1. I’m sorry you’ll be leaving the blogosphere, but it sounds like the right decision–especially if you’re feeling conflicts of interest. At least we can still chat on Instagram and Twitter! Best of luck in 2017! 🙂
